MOLLY POWERS, 1st YEAR GRAD STUDENT
Molly received her undergraduate degree in chemistry along with a minor in gender & women’s studies from Rhode Island College. There, she worked with Dr. Chin Hin Leung studying metal-based potential anti-cancer agents. She also worked with Dr. Matthew Kiesewetter at the University of Rhode Island where she synthesized biodegradable copolymers for biomedical applications. Upon finishing her undergraduate degree in 2019, this New Hampshirite moved to southern California to see what it’s like to live in a place where winter doesn’t exist… And to pursue her Ph.D. in chemistry. She joined the Su lab in 2019 and focuses on developing atomically precise silicon and germanium cages to explore their electronic properties. Whenever labwork isn’t calling, she enjoys hiking, going to concerts, and attempting to pet any cat she ever sees.
