Nhien nguyen - Graduate Student
Nhien joined the lab in 2019. Nhien was born and raised in southern Vietnam but she has lived in Texas long enough to consider the state her second home, most likely due to the Southern hospitality and her ultimate love for Texas barbecue. After obtaining her BS in Chemistry with a minor in Math at the University of Houston, Nhien decided to move to Riverside for her Ph.D and was amazed by how much cheaper avocados are in California. Inspired by her biomaterials research as an undergrad with Prof. Chengzhi Cai in Houston, Nhien is looking to utilize and optimize materials that can be made useful for biomedical applications, using synthetic polymers as tools for bioimaging in the Su lab. When she is not cooking polymers, Nhien enjoys cooking real food as well as sending science memes to her friends at 3AM in the morning.
